Lisa Joerin
Managing Partner
Lisa Joerin is a CPA and has been providing audit and tax services for various not-for-profit organizations of different types and sizes, small business and individual income tax and estate planning for 30 years. She has an extensive knowledge base of the accounting and auditing standards, tax and estate regulations, as they apply to individuals, for profit small business, not-for-profit and not-for-profits receiving federal funds and state-subsidized housing projects. In addition to being a CPA, Lisa is also a Certified Municipal Auditor, with background and continuing education in not-for-profit accounting and governmental auditing matters including A-133 Single Audit requirements, individual, business and estate tax planning and compliance.
Melissa Andal
Partner
Melissa Andal is a CPA with over 20 years of public accounting and tax experience. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Oregon University in 1997, passed the board exams and received her CPA license in 1998. During her tenure at Simpson & Company, she has worked extensively with small businesses and not-for-profit organizations including those receiving government funding performing attest and tax services. She obtained her license as a Certified Municipal Auditor in 2010. Melissa also worked for larger corporations for four years, where she gained experience in regulatory, benefits accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley implementation and compliance monitoring.
Lydia Whitaker
CPA
Lydia Whitaker, has been a certified public accountant since 2001. She has over 10 years experience in industry, government and non-profit accounting. She has a degree in Business Management from Oregon State University and a degree in Accounting from Portland State University. She enjoys gardening, traveling, dancing, spending time and friends and family. Lydia enjoys public accounting because of the diversity in subject and opportunity to expand one’s knowledge base both in tax and financial statement preparation. She also likes the fact that accounting plays an important role in society including, politics, social issues and family decision-making, and as a result gives her the opportunity to experience business ownership and tax planning from an insiders viewpoint. Lydia takes seriously her role in providing the most accurate and up to ate information in order that each client can make informed and advantageous decisions. She considers herself fortunate to work in a small firm environment under the direction of highly qualified partners who go beyond the typical accounting service and create long-term relationships and loyalty.
Mary Cooley
Office Manager
Mary Cooley joined Simpson and Company in January of 2013. She has 30 years of bookkeeping and payroll experience. In 2016 she became the Office Manager and is responsible for the day to day operations of the front office as well as bookkeeping and payroll processing for various clients.
